Our partner Matheus Kauss Vellasco will participate in the 12th Symposium of Young Penalists organized by the International Association of Penal Law – AIDP. The event will take place on October 23, 2024, at EMERJ – School of the Judiciary of the State of Rio de Janeiro.
Matheus will be part of the third panel of debates at 3:40 PM. The topic to be discussed will focus on the possibility and relevance of applying Restorative Justice to complex environmental criminal cases. The proposal is to debate whether restorative tools, which prioritize the prevention and repair of environmental damages, as well as the needs of the involved communities and victims, alongside proper accountability, should be considered as alternatives that could provide effective solutions in resolving such cases.
